This project supports RCMP and CORD3 Data Security activities by defining and documenting metadata requirements for controlled consistent and secure handling of digital information. It involved delivering information technology solutions to support secure metadata management, data classification and implementation readiness. The work focuses on clarifying required metadata elements, business rules, ownership, usage expectations and implementation considerations needed to improve discoverability, classification, retention, auditability and downstream integration across data-security processes.

Scope and objective |
|
The scope of the project includes reviewing the metadata requirement report, consolidating functional and technical needs, identifying mandatory and optional metadata fields, and translating these needs into practical guidance for data security stakeholders.
The objective is to produce a clear, implementable metadata baseline that supports secure information management, consistent reporting, compliance alignment, operational decision-making and future system integration. This included evaluating and selecting appropriate technology solutions, frameworks and platform considerations to support scalable implementation.

Contribution of the proposed resource to the project |

The proposed resource contributed to the project by developing the MAPLE Interactive Assistance Modeling tool, a capability intended to support interactive analysis, modeling and interpretation of metadata requirements within the Data Centric Security context. This included conceiving, designing and implementing a Business Intelligence-style solution to support structured analysis, reporting and stakeholder decision-making. This work helped translate complex metadata and security requirements into a practical tool-supported approach for stakeholder review, requirement clarification and implementation planning.
Key contributions included: · Designed and developed the MAPLE Interactive Assistance Modeling tool to support metadata requirement analysis and Data Centric Security decision support. · Structured tool functionality to help users explore metadata fields, relationships, business rules, assumptions and requirement dependencies. · Enabled interactive assistance for interpreting metadata requirements, identifying gaps and supporting stakeholder clarification. · Aligned the tool outputs with classification, retention, auditability, reporting and implementation-readiness needs, including integration considerations across multiple systems, applications and data sources. · Prepared the MAPLE tool concept and supporting material so it could be used by business, technical and governance stakeholders. |

The deliverables include the following (but not limited to):
· Consolidated metadata requirements summary, including required fields, definitions, purpose, usage notes and business-rule considerations. · Gap, assumption and clarification log to support stakeholder review and requirement validation. · Implementation-ready recommendations for metadata governance, quality controls, reporting, retention, classification and integration, including technology solution, framework and platform considerations for connecting metadata requirements with downstream systems and data sources.
