District Network Expansion – Gatineau Downtown Lead the development of 14 Building Survey Report to establish their respective individual energy profile to estimate the total heating and cooling peak demand and anticipate the overall reduction of GHG emission. This information was the foundation to develop a feasibility study for the construction of 4 Km of main distribution system of heating and cooling thermal energy, including lateral service connection to service 14 buildings located in downtown Gatineau. Additional survey of existing underground infrastructure and geotechnical analysis were also performed to support this study.

District Network Expansion – Ottawa Downtown Expansion Participate to preliminary studies of various secondary branch options to distribute ESAP’s Thermal Energy Service in the Ottawa downtown core. Seven secondary distribution corridors were considered within the perimeter defined by Elgin, Laurier, Bay and along Wellington Street where currently ESAP’s main underground distribution corridor is located. In this perimeter, 65 buildings were retained for a market sounding study. The sized of the building selected are above a Gross Floor Area (GFA) of 10,000 s.m which are the primary candidate to rationalizes the construction cost of lateral service connection to ESAP network. These 65 properties are owned by a mixed of Crown owned, Leased Purchase, Private owned with 60% leased space by Federal Government. A high-level energy profiles analysis of these 65 buildings, representing over 1,3 million s.m. of GFA, lead to an estimation of additional peak demand of 65 MW of Heating and 70 MW of Cooling.

Adisoke library – New connection to ESAP Leading the preliminary study to identify the optimal location for an underground corridor to accommodate ESAP’s secondary distribution to service Adisoke Library. The challenge of this mandate was to maximize used of public land and avoid potential interference with existing underground municipal and utilities infrastructures. The initial heating and cooling for construction will begin in the Fall 2024. Building full occupancy expected for Spring 2026. (Additional information: ADISOKE library connection to ESAP)
